MMS Environmental
Our goal is to increase awareness of recycling and the environment for all
Murphy Middle school students and their families. Some upcoming events are the following: November 15, 2007 is Texas Environmental/Recycles Day.
February 15, 2008 is Environmental Awareness week. We will be having a poster contest and other fun activities.
April 5, 2008 is Great American Clean-Up Day and Earth Day is April 22, 2008.
Here are some things that you can do every day to help recycle. After lunch at school, put all the items to be
recycled in their appropriate containers and anything organic in its appropriate trash container.
Soon, we will have Paper Retriever trash dumpsters on the MMS campus to put all of your old magazines,
old newspapers, junk mail and flattened cardboard. We will receive some monetary reimbursement for the MMS PTA for this.

We also have recycling of old telephones, old laptops,
old printer ink cartridges that help benefit the Environmental club. Please give
these items to the ladies in the front office as they have a container for those items to be recycled.
Remember the four “R”’s for your future: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rebuy.
On Texas Recycles Day, Thursday, November 15th, is wear green day.
We will be having prizes given out at lunch for the tables that are the most efficient at getting their
organics, recycled and trash items ready for their appropriate containers.
CRS-Printek is the Environmental Club’s fundraiser that everyone can use. Bring these recyclable items to the school office for this important fundraiser.
